How to move cases from Jubilee to Best Case
Short answer
Jubilee cannot export a case into Best Case. Jubilee’s own export is three CSV files, and its import list covers partner products only. Casewell reads the official-form petition package that Jubilee prints and writes a Best Case Desktop file from it. Identity, creditors, property, income and expenses carry over. Exemptions, codebtors and the means test are captured as notes for manual entry.
A retiring attorney hands over a practice. Two firms merge. One office keeps Jubilee and the other files in Best Case. In every one of those situations somebody has to ask how the open cases move, and the honest answer from the vendors is that they do not. This page covers what Jubilee actually exports, what Best Case actually imports, and what Casewell does with the package Jubilee prints.
Can Jubilee export a case to Best Case?
No. Jubilee’s Case Settings screen offers three exports, Export Payments, Export Assets and Export Creditors, each a CSV. There is no export of the debtor record, the schedules, exemptions, income, expenses, the Statement of Financial Affairs, the statement of intention or the means test. Jubilee’s own import menu lists partner products only, and Best Case is not among them. No vendor publishes a Jubilee to Best Case path in either direction.

What carries over from a Jubilee package?
Jubilee prints the federal official forms with the official title on every page. Casewell identifies each form from that title, reads it, and assembles a Best Case Desktop file that opens with File then Restore Client from Disk. Nothing in the process is specific to Jubilee, and a vendor print needs no special handling.
What carries over
- Debtor identity. Name, address, county, chapter and district, with the Social Security number left blank because the printed form shows only the last four digits.
- Every creditor. Name, address, account digits, balance, secured, priority or unsecured classification, and the date incurred exactly as printed. Claim balances reconcile to the printed schedule totals.
- Property values. Real property at its printed value, vehicles with year, make and model, bank accounts with masked digits, household goods, electronics, clothing, jewellery and retirement accounts.
- Schedule I. Wages, overtime, gross pay, tax, insurance and voluntary deductions, and net monthly income.
- Schedule J. Every expense line, on the right row, summing to the printed total.
- Executory contracts. Schedule G contracts, with counterparty addresses.
- The Statement of Financial Affairs lawsuit. Case title, court and status.
What still needs manual entry?
Quite a lot, and Casewell says so on the screen rather than quietly dropping it. Anything Casewell cannot write into a Best Case file is preserved word for word in a review note attached to the job, grouped by form, so a paralegal keys it from the note instead of hunting through the source package.
- Schedule C exemptions. Every row is preserved with its statute text verbatim, its amount and its property reference, and every row is entered by hand in Best Case.
- Schedule H codebtors. Preserved with addresses and the related debt, entered by hand.
- The statement of intention. Each property and lease election is preserved as a note.
- Most SOFA answers. Only the legal-actions question reaches the file. The rest are preserved with their printed question numbers and wording.
- Means test figures. Current monthly income, household size, the median comparison and the printed conclusion are preserved as notes.
- The client’s phone number and e-mail. An attorney-prepared petition prints neither, so a petition import can never supply them. That is a property of the form, not of Casewell.
- Pages nothing was read from. The summary, the declaration and Jubilee’s untitled creditor matrix are listed by page number so a reviewer can check them.
How long does one case take?
Minutes rather than hours. Nearly all of the elapsed time is reading the forms, because each one is read several times independently and the reads are compared. Assembly and file generation take seconds. Review time is on top of that and depends on the case, because a person still checks every schedule against the printed source.
Compare that with the alternative. Retyping a case into Best Case repeats the data entry the firm already did once in Jubilee. The wider arithmetic on petition hours is in how long it takes to prepare a bankruptcy petition.
What does a firm have to send?
One printed petition package per client, as a text-searchable PDF. Jubilee’s own print is exactly that, because Jubilee prints the federal official forms with the official titles in the page headers and footers, and those titles are what Casewell routes on. A package can be one PDF or up to twenty that merge in order, up to 25 MB and 200 pages in total.
- Official forms only. Local forms, plans, docket history and attachments are not read.
- Text-searchable. A scanned image of a printed petition is not accepted, and an encrypted PDF is not accepted.
- One version of one client’s case. Do not upload original and amended schedules together, because nothing should silently pick between two versions of a schedule.
- Individual Chapter 7 is what has been verified. Chapter 13, joint filings and business petitions are not.
When is this worth doing?
When the cases have to move and there is no supported route. A retiring attorney handing a book of open Chapter 7 cases to a successor who files in Best Case is the clearest case. So is a merger where one side stops paying for Jubilee. So is a single client who moves firms mid-case. In each of those the choice today is retyping or nothing.
It is not worth doing to avoid a subscription decision. If the firm is only comparing products, read Best Case against Jubilee Pro and Jubilee Pro reviews and pricing first. And if the recurring problem is intake rather than migration, the answer is getting client data into Best Case without retyping it.
How does a firm turn petition import on?
It is enabled per firm during the free beta, by request. Once it is on, an extra option appears beside the usual intake choices, the package uploads there, and the reviewed case downloads as a Best Case Desktop file that you open with File then Restore Client from Disk. Can Jubilee export to Best Case?
No. Jubilee offers three CSV exports covering payments, assets and creditors, and nothing that produces a Best Case file. Its import menu offers Clio, Practice Panther, BK Questionnaire, BK Packet and Lexria, so the reverse direction is also unsupported.
Does Casewell read Jubilee’s database?
No. It reads the official-form petition package Jubilee prints. Nothing connects to Jubilee, no Jubilee credentials are needed, and no Jubilee account access is transferred.
Does this work for Chapter 13 cases?
Not today. Individual Chapter 7 is what has been verified end to end. Chapter 13 plans, the Chapter 13 means forms and joint filings have not been tested and are not offered.
How much of the case comes across?
Debtor identity, every creditor with balance and classification, property with values, Schedule I, Schedule J, executory contracts and the SOFA legal-actions answer. Exemptions, codebtors, intentions, most SOFA answers and the means test were preserved as notes for manual entry rather than written into the file.
Do we still have to check the imported case?
Yes. Every petition-import field is marked for review, and a person has to compare each schedule with the source package in Best Case before the case is used. The generated file is checked for structural importability, which is not the same as factual or legal correctness.
Will the client’s phone number and e-mail come across?
No. An attorney-prepared petition prints the attorney’s contact details in Part 8 and leaves the debtor’s contact fields empty, so there is nothing on the page to read. Client contact details still come from the firm’s own intake.
Does Casewell file the case?
No. Casewell produces a Best Case Desktop file. Preparing, reviewing, amending and filing all stay in Best Case, exactly as they do now.
What does petition import cost?
Nothing during the current free beta. It is enabled per firm rather than being on by default, because it needs a conversation about which cases are being moved and what the review burden looks like.
